About “Bartle”
In this body of work, I began with the most geometrically expressive part of the built form of the Bartle Hall Convention Center in Kansas City, Missouri – the façade. The proportions of the façade establish a rhythm upon which to express a variety of compatible and/or random “reactions” based on my knowledge of the architecture as the Architect who managed the design of the building. As an artist, interpreting this architectural knowledge, I was able to take liberties not available in the architectural vocabulary. Each piece explores a different avenue of expression which, hopefully, allow each viewer to react differently based on their own experiences.
